Lorna Vanderhaeghe, MS
Many readers may already know me from my many years writing and editing for Alive magazine or as Editor-in-chief for Healthy Living Guide, Canada's number one health newsstand magazine. I have been researching and writing on the subject of nutritional medicine for almost two decades working along side some of the most brilliant researchers and doctors. For over 5 years I worked at the Journal of Orthomolecular Medicine and the Canadian Schizophrenia Foundation.

Like many who have developed a passion for the nutritional medicine field I became a convert after my daughter recovered from an illness that doctors could not treat with conventional methods. The greatest joy I receive from writing, lecturing and publishing comes from you. Your letters and health recovery stories are powerful motivators to get the message out. Every other letter I receive from readers starts with the words, "if I had only known about this information earlier I would not have had to endure years of sickness."

Dr. Parris Kidd
Mind and Body Medicine

Dr. Parris Kidd was born in Jamaica and earned his B.Sc. degree with First Class Honors at the University of the West Indies. Subsequently he emigrated to the USA and earned his PhD in cell biology at the University of California at Berkeley. In 1983, after serving seven years as a research investigator in cardiology at the University of California's San Francisco Medical Center (UCSF) and as a lecturer at Berkeley and at the University of the Pacific, Dr. Kidd entered the new field of nutritional biomedicine. His first project was to write Antioxidant Adaptation—Its Role in Free Radical Pathology. Published in 1985, this 500-page text established nutritional antioxidants as the body’s premier anti-toxic, anti-inflammatory, and anti-aging substances. It also established Dr. Kidd as a leading scientist in alternative medicine.

In 1990 Dr. Kidd published Living with the AIDS Virus—A Strategy for Long-Term Survival. This book discussed the then-limited pharmaceutical options for managing HIV-1, as well as the evidence that dietary and lifestyle modification, supplementation with nutrients and herbs, and physical exercise could help extend lifespan for the person living with AIDS. Dr. Kidd presented this new integrative approach to disease management internationally, at community meetings, universities and People with HIV support groups.

Dr. Kidd subsequently broadened his focus to brain nutrition. In 1994 he helped introduce the nutrient PhosphatidylSerine (PS) to North America. In 1997 he helped introduce GlyceroPhosphoCholine (GPC). In 2003 he helped introduce krill omega-3 phospholipids. He has lectured and written extensively on the uses of these phospholipid nutrients to support attention, memory and mood, and to salvage declining brain function. Recently he has published books on PS and GPC.

Dr. Parris Kidd is now internationally recognized as a nutrition educator and dietary supplement product developer. He remains committed to providing quality healthcare information rooted in good science. He has published numerous peer reviewed scientific articles, book chapters, monographs, and magazine articles on diverse topics in healthcare. He is a Contributing Editor to the journal Alternative Medicine Review, Science Adviser for Total Health magazine, and designer of dozens of dietary supplement formulations. Dr. Kidd’s website at www.dockidd.com carries a number of his educational contributions as free downloads. Dr. Kidd continues to be a strong advocate of integrative strategies for health maintenance and disease management.

Dr. Stephen Sinatra
A Cardiologist's Guide to Total Health

Dr. Sinatra completed his conventional medical school training at Albany Medical College in New York. After completing five years of training in internal medicine, psychiatry, and cardiology, he joined a bustling cardiology practice. In medical school, he had learned to be an "iron man," devoid of feelings and able to function on little sleep. Later, he understood the costs of such a disconnect.

While working long hours in cardiac care, he witnessed the destructive patterns of many of his heart patients. Generally, they were driven, competitive, type A personalities prone to developing heart disease.

While looking for remedies, he quickly realized that conventional medicine didn't offer the solution. By the time many of his patients came to him, their conditions were too far gone. Many were searching for alternatives to surgery; most wanted to make decisions about their treatment.

Dr. Sinatra began to shift his focus away from disease treatment and toward disease prevention. He searched for alternative approaches to healing, becoming certified in bioenergetic analysis. With bioenergetics, he began studying mind-body interactions. Looking beyond the disease, he focused on the physical, metabolic, emotional, and mental aspects of the body.

Jeff Ham
Illustrator Extraordinaire

Raw, bright, explosive colors are used to evoke emotion and draw attention to the subjects Jeff paints. “In my paintings everything becomes an iconic image, no setting or backgrounds. I paint what I love, people, animals and landscapes. I do my best to translate emotion and feelings into color as well as communicate my individual interpretation of each subject. The work is done quickly and in the moment to capture spontaneity and avoid over thinking and over working. As an artist I am at a genesis of learning to express myself in an honest and straightforward manner.”

At 18 Ham took his first sojourn through the Southwest and Southern Utah. Zion, Bryce and the South Rim of the Grand Canyon proved to be such an influence on Jeff’s art that he works from a studio in St. George, Utah 7 to 8 months out of the year, while also keeping a studio on the shore of Lake Michigan in Michigan City, Indiana.

Jeff’s work is found in magazines, galleries, national and international private collections and universities across the country.
